Q: What is TopicCraze?
A: TopicCraze is the latest directory of topics to hit the internet. TopicCraze users submit, rank and review sites, creating one of the few truly user-generated site directories on the web. At TopicCraze, users are in control, not some corporate algorithm.
Q: Is there a fee for submitting URLs?
A: Nope. TopicCraze is 100% FREE!!!
Q: Do I have to create an account to use TopicCraze?
A: Nope. You can search for, submit, rank and review sites without creating an account. But if you don't create an account, you're missing out on some other fun opportunities.
Q: What are the perks of creating an account?
A: We'll think of something! How about freebies?
Q: Does my vote really count?
A: You better believe it! But, your vote isn't the only way sites rank higher on TopicCraze.
Q: What makes a site rank as "All the Rage"?
A: In addition to your vote, the longer a site is viewed the more point it earns. A site owner earns extra points if they gain a vote through the TopicCraze button on their site, more points if a user comments on the site, even more if the voter comes over and checks out TopicCraze proper, and even more if the voter becomes a member through your own personal site!
Q: What makes a site a "Wannabe"?
A: Lack of activity mostly. Low ratings, especially negative ones.
Q: What is a "Newbie"?
A. A recently submitted site that has not received enough attention to be "All the Rage" yet.
Q: How long do sites remain "Newbies"?
A: Until they get rated high enough to be "All the Rage", or get too many negative votes and disappear. If neither those happen within two weeks then they become wannabes.
Q: How can I get more people to vote for my site?
A: Adding a "vote for my site" button to you site is a great start. Then spread the word to others you know.
Q: Aren't your voting buttons shameless promotional tactics?
A: Most definitely. But is that so wrong? After all, the more people who submit URLs and rank sites, the better the user-generated search results. In short, the more folks who use TopicCraze, the better the results. Who doesn't want a better search engine?
Q: Do you have an affiliate program?
A: Not currently, but we might create one in the future if the public demands it.
Q: How much does it cost to make my site "All the Rage"?
A: Nothing. Just get people, friends and family, to come visit and rate your site.
Q: Can I pay to have my site promoted on TopicCraze?
A: You don't need to pay us, but you're free to pay your friends to vote for your site!
Q: Do I have to own a site to submit it?
A: No way! TopicCraze is a user-generated listing of the best sites on the web.
Q: How are votes tallied?
A: Carefully. We try to weed out duplicates and spam submissions
Q: What is the point breakdown for votes?
A: An Awesome vote gets a high positive tally, an "86 it" gets a negative tally.
Q: How do I become a super-user?
A: Visit and rate a lot of sites; submit sites. Users who use TopicCraze regularly accrue "rage points". Get enough and you elevate to super status.
Q: How do I earn activity points?
A: Visit and preview sites, rate sites, submit sites, add "vote for me" buttons to your site(s). Anything that results in TopicCraze activity.
Q: How do I create a new topic?
A: That's coming soon. For now find the best match you can.
Q: How do I submit a URL?
A: Click on the "submit URL" button on the top of any TopicCraze page. If you're on a topic that suits the site, great. If not, try from the TopicCraze front page and we'll find a topic for you!
Q: The suggeste topics don't seem right for the URL I want to submit. What should I do?
A: Use the TopicCraze search or directory to look for a good one, then use the Submit URL button on that topic page. The system will still recommend some, but will show the one you came in from first.
You might also take note of what it recommends and adjust your title and description more accurately reflect the topic of the site.
Q: What's the toolbar for?
A: The toolbar is good for navigating around sites in a particular topic, quickly getting to a review page, or submitting new URLs you encounter while surfing the net. It's not mandatory, but can come in very handy.
Q: Do I HAVE to download the toolbar to become a member?
Q: Does the search box look for topics or sites or both?
A: Both. If you're on a specific topic already it searches for sites on that topic. If not, it searches the system for topics.
Q: Much as I like the cryptic password you created for me....can I enter one I can actually remember??
A: Hehe, certainly. Go to your Account Settings screen when you are logged into your account and on your My Account page. There you'll find a box to enter a new password.
