The People of theway were torah-observant spiritual Jews known historically as Essene/Ebionites. Spiritually, they were Nazarene Israelites because they were the people of the Vow. They did not accept Yeshua as God--they rejected the Trinity and the virgin birth--and believed Yeshua became the Messiah by completely fulfilling the torah within himself. The objective of Yeshua/Jesus was to make every Jew a messiah! This should be the objective of every Jew and Christian today: a nation of priests in service of G-d. Once understood, the New Covenant has nothing to do with the testament or scriptures cited, but designates the means by which spiritual Israel is taught directly from G-d.
